House Pancake Mix With Hazlenut Maple Syrup
Updated: Jul 30, 2019
Having run out of pancake mix one morning, I decided to fire up the google machine to see whats out there for pancake recipes. After a lot of in home testing, we all decided that this was the best recipe. Adding the instant yeast gives it a fun hint of donut like flavor. It's not uncommon for my kids to ask me to make these for dinner !!!
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook time: varies, but about 3-4 minutes per pancake
Ingredients:
Pancake Mix Hazelnut Maple Syrup
3 cups Flour 1 1/2 cups Maple Syrup
5 tsp. Baking Powder 1/2 cup Nutella
2 tsp. Salt 1 tbsp. Water
2 tbsp. Sugar
1 tsp. Instant Yeast (optional)
2 tsp Vanilla
2 1/2 Cups Milk
2 Eggs
6 tbsp Melted Butter
For the pancake batter mix the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and instant yeast into a bowl.
Form a well, or a hole in the center of the dry mixture and add the vanilla, milk, eggs and melted butter and blend until smooth. I like to use a whisk for this step.
Let the mix rest for a couple of minutes.
Heat an oiled or buttered griddle or pan to medium heat. If the heat is too high they will cook unevenly and burn on the bottom ! Take your time :)
Use a 1/4 measuring cup to ladle the batter into the pan, when you see bubbles forming on the top lift a small part of the pancake up and peek underneath to see if its golden brown.
To make the hazelnut maple syrup, simply mix the maple syrup, nutella and water together in a small town and whisk the ingredients together. If its a little too firm add another splash of water.
